The
Life Sciences Technologies stream at the 2009 Banff Venture Forum will focus on
emerging companies developing and marketing cutting edge life sciences, biotechnology,
medical devices, industrial life sciences and agricultural biotech products and
services.
The Life Sciences Technologies Stream was a new addition for the Banff Venture
Forum last year, which also marked the Forum’s 10th anniversary.
The Life Sciences Stream was originally started in 2005 by the Alberta Life
Technologies Forum (ALTIF) to address the need for access to capital for life
technologies companies in Alberta. ALTIF was originally run as a one-day
forum, showcasing companies in the life technologies sector, to demonstrate the
range of Alberta-connected investment opportunities from start-ups to mature
companies looking to raise additional investment capital. ALTIF provided a
unique opportunity for companies, primarily in Alberta's biotechnology and the
medical devices technology sectors, to network with investors from across
Canada.
