Protus IP Solutions
Recently Protus was successfully
sold to J2 Global Communications Inc. for $213M, one of the largest
Canadian venture capital backed exits in 2010. The transaction was
awarded the PwC "Exit of the Year". Tom was instrumental in leading
the transaction with J2 to the finish line.
Tom joined Protus in 2001 as the
Company's Chief Financial Officer. As a member of the senior
management team, Tom was responsible for all aspects of the
company's financial and administrative activities including
M&A, financing, performance measurement and financial and board
reporting. Tom's experience includes strategic financial
facilitation, M&A, financial and business planning, systems
development and implementation, process engineering and financial
management. Prior to Protus, Tom was Director of Financial Planning
and Systems at Export Development Corporation and an Insolvency and
Restructuring specialist with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Tom also
worked abroad in Dublin Ireland providing audit services to
multi-national companies. Tom is a graduate of the University of
Waterloo. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990. He
resides in Ottawa with his family where he provides consulting
services to start up and growing companies. His passions include
skiing, golfing and running.
Protus IP Solutions, Inc. provided
software-as-a-service communication tools for small to medium
businesses and enterprise organizations. The company offered
Internet fax, virtual PBX, and email marketing services. The
company marketed its products under MyFax, my1voice, Campaigner,
and CampaignerPro brand names. Protus IP Solutions, Inc. was
founded in 1997 and is based in Ottawa, Canada. As of December 6,
2010, Protus IP Solutions, Inc. was acquired and now operates as a
subsidiary of j2 Global Communications, Inc.
